As a gunner and photographer, T/Sgt. Patrick O'Keef saw action in 27 heavy bombardment missions over enemy occupied Europe in 1944. Upon the entry of the U.S. into World War II, the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress played a vital role in the bombardment of Germany.

T/Sgt. Patrick O'Keef was stationed at Knettishall, England, where he saw action in 27 heavy bombardment missions between March 16, 1944, and July 17, 1944, flying in B-17s with the 8th Air Force Bombardment Division, 388th Bomb Group (sq. "H"), 562nd Bomb Squadron. Upon the entry of the U.S. into World War II, the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress played a vital role in the bombardment of Germany.
