Last Surviving TP-40N "Warhawk" Flies Home to Fantasy of Flight

Polk City, FL., April 29, 2004 - Fantasy of Flight, home of the World's Greatest Aircraft Collection announces the arrival of the only factory built TP-40N "Warhawk" left in existence in the world.

The TP-40N is the trainer variant of the P-40 "Warhawk" flown in WWII and made famous by the "Flying Tigers." A total of 40 of these two-place "Warhawks" were ever built. During several production runs of the P-40, five to ten of the two seater
TP-40N were produced and used primarily for flight training and as squadron "hacks".

Frank Tallman, an outstanding stunt pilot and partner with Paul Manz, Hollywood's leading individual stunt pilot, in Tallmantz Aviation, previously owned the "Warhawk". It was used in the movie "Death Chase" and "Tora, Tora, Tora" and can be seen in the pilot episode of the 1976 television series "Baa Baa Black Sheep".

One of the nation's premier aviation attractions, Fantasy of Flight encompasses 300 acres in Polk City for the display of vintage aircraft portraying the golden eras of aviation from the 1920s and World War II era. Fantasy of Flight is home to the "World's Greatest Aircraft Collection" featuring over 70 beautifully restored rare and vintage aircraft, Corsair flight simulators, daily restoration shop & back-lot tours, aircraft of the day flights, sight and sound multi-sensory immersion experiences, a gift shop and the art deco "Compass Rose Diner" open daily for lunch, and snacks. Fantasy of Flight is open daily from 9am-5pm. (except Christmas and Thanksgiving) and is located midway between Tampa and Orlando off I-4 exit #44.
