For two full days, July 25-26, Fantasy of Flight, Central Florida’s premier aviation attraction will take visitors back to a time of larger-than-life aviation heroes, fantastic flying machines and glorious jazz with its first-ever celebration of the “Barnstormers of the Roaring ‘20s.”

Visitors are invited to relive the “Golden Age of Aviation” — a time almost a century ago when America celebrated a renewed spirit and enthusiasm no longer dampened by war and deprivation, and when daredevil pilots called “Barnstormers” flying inexpensive military surplus airplanes took to the skies in record numbers to display never-before-seen aerial aerobatics.

The action-packed activities on Saturday, July 25 and Sunday, July 26 include:

  • 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. - “Barnstormers of the Roaring ‘20s” Multimedia Presentation in Officers’ Club, followed by Barnstormers Walking Tour of vintage aircraft
  • 12:30 – 2 p.m. - Open cockpit photo opportunity featuring Barnstorming aircraft treasure
  • 1:30 p.m. – “Aircraft of the Day” Barnstorming demonstration
  • 3:30 p.m. - Watch The Great Waldo Pepper in the intimate, period-themed Fantasy of Flight Officers’ Club. In this classic 1975 Robert Redford film, a World War I pilot who missed his chance to fly in the war takes up barnstorming and later a movie career to recapture his glory days.

“We are thrilled to bring to life one of the most incredible periods in American and aviation history, the Roaring ‘20s — the mood, the music, the people and of course, the planes,” said Kermit Weeks, Fantasy of Flight creator and founder. “We hope the public will join us for this very special weekend as we remember and celebrate one of the most daring, inspirational groups of pilots ever to fly — the 1920s Barnstormers.”

The special event, “Barnstormers of the Roaring ‘20s” is free with regular admission and for all Fantasy of Flight Annual Pass Holders. Annual passes are available for $69.95 for adults, $39.95 for children ages 6–15, free for toddlers, plus 7 percent sales tax, and are good for one year from the date of purchase. Additional opportunities to impress and excite Dad include biplane and balloon rides (available for an additional cost).
