POLK CITY, Fla. (Sept. 15, 2010) – POLK CITY, Fla. (Sept. 15, 2010) - Inspired by the wildly successful annual Boy Scott Camporee which has attracted a total of roughly 400 Boy Scouts during its past two annual March events, Central Florida's premier aviation attraction, Fantasy of Flight, is launching a new Fall Aviation Camporee.  Flight fans can take advantage of the cool fall weather while enjoying a three-day, two-night trip to bond and explore an aviation wonderland complete with more than forty rare and vintage aircraft, the largest private collection in the world.

Throughout the action-packed weekend in September, groups can practice their primitive camping skills while participating in a variety of educational and immersive aviation-themed activities. Not only will Camporee-goers tour Fantasy of Flight and visit real working aircraft maintenance and restoration areas, but they will also have the chance to talk with aviation mechanics, restoration specialists and pilots as they participate in a variety of special merit badge stations. They can also experience a number of simulators such as piloting a hot air balloon or flying a hang-glider.

As a former world aerobatics champion, airplane designer and children's book author, Fantasy of Flight creator and founder Kermit Weeks is proud to provide a unique educational venue for the aviation campers to immerse themselves in the captivating world of aviation. "We're excited to welcome young flight enthusiasts and aviation buffs for a unique opportunity to spend an entire weekend with our vintage planes and all the attraction has to offer," says Weeks. "This should be an incredible learning experience and what we hope will be the first of many Fall Aviation Camporees to come."

Cost of the Camporee's three-day, two-night weekend is $30 per person, plus tax. The $30 rate includes unlimited weekend admission to Fantasy of Flight, specially tailored tours, merit station activities, campsite and lunch on Saturday.
