George Erickson has spent the last thirty-eight summers traversing the northern provinces, Quebec, the Northwest and Yukon Territories and Alaska. A retired dentist, he is a history lover, science buff, lecturer and the author of the Canadian best-seller True North: Exploring the Great Wilderness by Bush Plane, which garnered universally glowing reviews and left his readers asking for more. On November 7 and 8, the pilot and author will present "Bush Flying in the Far North" as part of the action-packed weekend during the 3rd Annual Roar n' Soar at Fantasy of Flight. His PowerPoint presentation is based on the best selling True North: Exploring the Great Wilderness by Bush Plane and its sequel, Back to the Barrens. George's presentations on flying in the far North and Australia have been featured all over the US and Canada, including the AirVenture gathering at Oshkosh, WI. Our speaker also the former chairman of the Worthington, MN Airport Commission and a former Vice President of the Minnesota Seaplane Pilots' Association.
Erickson's articles have appeared in many general interest and aviation magazines, including Airways Magazine, Cessna Flyer, Motorcycle Tour and Cruiser, Northern Pilot, Mpls/St Paul Magazine, Private Pilot, the Minnesota Flyer, Canadian Flight, the AOPA Pilot and Arctic in Colour. In 2000, George was named the Author of the Year by the Minnesota Aviation Hall of Fame.
