Here are some more visual updates from Kermit. Do you think we\u2019ll make it in time?!<\/p>\n<p>All of the fabric for the wing panels have been sewn up and Ken is preparing to cover some of the first pieces. Once we figure out exactly how we\u2019re going to do this (how we attach it, glue it down, tack the under-surfaces, and the number of coats of dope) he\u2019ll turn it over to someone else to grind them out.\u00a0He\u2019s got to get back on the hull for the final planking!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1543 colorbox-1542\" alt=\"A-Benoist-Progress-_-Ken\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fantasyofflight.com\/collection\/wp-content\/uploads\/A-Benoist-Progress-_-Ken-650x487.jpg\" width=\"650\" height=\"487\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fantasyofflight.com\/collection\/wp-content\/uploads\/A-Benoist-Progress-_-Ken-650x487.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.fantasyofflight.com\/collection\/wp-content\/uploads\/A-Benoist-Progress-_-Ken-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.fantasyofflight.com\/collection\/wp-content\/uploads\/A-Benoist-Progress-_-Ken.jpg 889w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Paul and Dave have been jammin\u2019 on prep-ing and priming all the fittings.<\/p>\n<p>Once the fittings are media blasted, they dip them into a prep solution for a specific amount of time, dip them into the black oxide paint, and then hang them up to dry!<\/p>\n<p>Andrea\u2019s been varnishing and prep-ing the wings for cover. Kermit\u00a0dug out some pics from our research trip to the Smithsonian that will help determine how it was originally done as they had another model Benoist in the collection.\u00a0Once we decide on what material we\u2019re going to use for the \u201cdrag and anti-drag\u201d straps, we\u2019ll install them on the wings and begin the process of covering 23 pieces!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Progress is being made in leaps and bounds as the end of the year looms.
