General History

The pilot flies from the front cockpit while a passenger/gunner would sit in the rear.  There is a 'downstairs' that has room for 2 additional passengers or downed pilots.  There is also a 'hatch' in the bottom of the hull that can be opened in flight to take reconnaissance pictures out of.

Ducks have been used is several movies and TV shows such as “Ba Ba Black Sheep” and Murphys War.

Personal History

This paint scheme, the “Candy Clipper”, was from a Duck that had been sunk early on in the battle for the Philippines during World War II.  After the aircraft was salvaged, and brought back to flying condition, it brought badly needed supplies in, including medical supplies and candy for the troops during the last siege for the islands.  The “Candy Clipper” was the last aircraft to leave the Philippines before the Japanese took over the islands in 1942.
